Hydrogeological Investigations

We design and deliver fit-for-purpose hydrogeological investigations that stand up to technical and regulatory scrutiny. Our work spans desktop assessments, targeted drilling, hydraulic testing, monitoring and sampling, with clear, decision-ready reporting for development, infrastructure, mining and environmental projects.

What We Do

How We Work

We characterise hydrostratigraphy, quantify groundwater occurrence and movement, and translate measurements into practical inputs for design, approvals and risk management.

Programs are planned to answer specific decisions—minimising footprint while maximising confidence—and are aligned to AS 1726 (Geotechnical Site Investigations) and relevant EPA/NEPM guidance.

Core Investigation Methods

  • Aquifer testing: step-drawdown, constant-rate and recovery analyses to determine sustainable yield, well efficiency and interference.
  • Slug testing: rising/falling-head tests in screened bores for rapid permeability estimates in sands, silts and gravels.
  • Packer testing: single/double-packer interval tests in rock to identify transmissive fractures and depth-resolved permeability.
  • Bore siting & construction supervision: locations, depths, screen/slot selection, gravel-pack gradation and development.

Monitoring & Sampling Capability

  • Low-flow (micro-purge) sampling with inline stabilisation of pH/EC/DO/redox/temperature; proven high-head deployments and narrow-diameter wells.
  • Actuator sampling (pneumatic/gas-lift) for high-sediment or unstable bores where conventional pumping is unreliable.
  • Grab sampling for screening/compliance in low-turbidity bores with strict preservation and hold-time control.
  • Live-interface data loggers for physical (solid-slug) and pressure (pneumatic) slug tests—real-time traces, high-frequency early-time capture and on-site QA.

Standards, QA/QC and Compliance

  • Programs align with AS 1726 (planning, procedures, documentation) and AS/NZS 5667 (Water quality—Sampling).
  • Bore construction follows the Minimum Construction Requirements for Water Bores in Australia.
  • Calibration records, duplicates, rinsate/equipment blanks, trip blanks and full chain-of-custody are standard.
  • Field measurements and pre-packed consumables are managed to meet general Trade Measurement duties for pre-packaged goods.
