Hydraulic Parameterisation (Packer Testing & Slug Testing)

Packer & Slug Testing

We measure how readily groundwater moves to de-risk design, dewatering and contamination projects. Our team applies two complementary field methods for fast, defensible permeability data.

Slug Testing

We briefly raise or lower the water level in a monitoring well and track the recovery to calculate hydraulic conductivity of the screened formation. It is quick, non-pumping and ideal in sands, silts and gravels. We use live-interface data loggers for both physical (solid-slug) and pressure (pneumatic) tests, enabling real-time QA and high-frequency early-time capture.

Packer Testing

In rock, we isolate short borehole intervals with inflatable packers and apply pressure to obtain interval-specific permeability, distinguishing transmissive fractures from tight matrix. Results support excavation inflow estimates, tunnel/quarry design, groutability evaluations and targeted remediation.

Deliverables

  • You receive calibrated time-series plots, interpreted hydraulic conductivity for each well or interval, uncertainty/repeatability notes, and design-ready recommendations (e.g., predicted inflows, drain performance).

Standards and Compliance

Work aligns with AS 1726 (Geotechnical Site Investigations - https://www.standards.org.au/standards-catalogue/standard-details?designation=as-1726-2017) and, where applicable, AS 4133.4.2.2-2013 for soil/rock test methods.
